ATCopy2.22 (c) Copyright 1991 by Peter Vorwerk ATCopy2.22
-------------------------------------------------------------
Bugfixing to version 2.21:
In version 2.21 it could sometimes happen, that instead to
open the filerequester, the program crashed. This bug have
been fixed. This is the last SHAREWARE version. A new
comercial version is obtainable by the author or by

G E R M A N Y
The SHAREWARE will be calculated, if you buy the new version
directly from the author.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Bugfixing to version 2.2:
Now the XT-Board and the SideCar are recognized correct.
This feature should have worked a long time ago,
but it didn't.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Bugfixing to version 2.1:
In version 2.1 the conversion of national chars won't
work properly. In fact they wont't work at all. Now this
bug has been fixed.
New in version 2.2:
The options and the PC path now can be changed by
gadgets. These gadgets will show the defaults you
have specified by CLI. If you click one gadget twice it
will turn off. ATTENTION: By a refreshing error the string
gadget for the PC path seems to have no cursor after you
have clicked it. But it will be active! The options mean
exactly the same as in the programs AREAD and AWRITE on
the XT/AT board.
If you specify an non existing drawer on the
XT/AT side it will be generated first. But at
least the parent of this must already exist.
In this version the program will show an Alert, if you try
to write to an write-protect or an full disk. Maybe
this will change in a new version.
The new patch program will work with both new
versions of ATCopy.
With the program 'Patch_Option' you can modify
the 'default' option. This can be done by
Patch_Option ATCopy opt [path]
With this program you can modify ATCopy2.2 to
work with your own defaults if you don't select
any by CLI or WB.
The ORGINAL manual for the new requester is
included. Please read this manual, especialy for
EXTENDET SELECT MODE. This mode is supported.
This filerequester ist (c) 1990 by Khalid Aldoseri.
Thanks to Oliver Denzler for the new icon.
Also thanks to all those sending bugreports, improvements
or money. This helped me to update the program.
Known Bug: If you call the program from workbench, you will
lose 24 Bytes of memory. If you use the CLI, this won't
happen. I can't fix this bug.
-------------------------------------------------------------
New in version 2.1:
Now you will find two versions of the program
ATCopy2.1. These two versions differ only in the
messages. One will print these in english and
the other in german.
In the new version 2.1 the length of a file will no longer
change if you use the OPT B option. This caused some trouble
if you use compressed files. Thangs to Jeff Christensen for
reporting this bug.
-------------------------------------------------------------
The program ATCopy2.0 is an update for the version 1.0. But
this new version is SHAREWARE instead of PD. If you find this
program useful and use it regular, please send $10 ( or
DM 10 ) to the follow address.

The program may be distributed for non-profit only ( a price
of more than $7 per disk is surely no more a self cost
price ! ) and this manual is also copied. ( You are allowed
to copy only the program without the manual to your harddisk
or your workdisk, but you are not permitted to distribute the
software in this form! ) If you want to include this software
in an other library, than in the one of Fred Fish, please
contact me frist.
Surely everyone, who has an Amiga with an XT/AT Board ( the
older SideCar works well too ), knows it is principle pos-
sible to copy files between the two computers. But the way to
do this is not very comfortable. In the new version of the
Janus.library ( 2.63 respectively 33.1 ) you can use wild-
cards, but only in one direction ( from the XT/AT to the
Amiga ). Let's say you want to copy several files from the
Amiga to the XT/AT, you have to copy each file seperatly. The
first relase of ATCopy produced a scriptfile with the sepe-
rate commands. Now we skip this step and translate the files
directly through the socalled Dual-Ported-RAM.The program has
an icon and can be startet from the workbench. If you start
the program without any parameters, the files will be asked
for interactiv by the well known ARP-Filerequester. From the
CLI you are able to specify beside the filenames two other
parameters.
USAGE: ATCopy Files...,TO/K,OPT/K
Files... means a list of filenames, the keyword
TO specify the PC-path ( for example <TO A:> means
that all files are send to the floppy A: . If you
don't specify the keyword TO, the files will be
send to the current PC-path. ) and after the
keyword
OPT you can specify one ( and only one ) of the follow-
ing options.
B Translate the files binary ( no conversion of
characters and CR's will not be translated in
CRLF's. )
CR Translate the files with conversion of characters,
but also CR's will not be translated in CRLF'.
NC Translate the files binary and CR's will be
translated in CRLF's.
The keywords TO and/or OPT MUST be typed! You can't type '/B'
to transfer files binary. Please note also, that you are not
able to type files after any option. The PC path is an option
too. So if you type:
ATCopy file1 TO C: OPT B file2
only 'file1' will be copied to c: binary, but not 'file2'.
If you don't specify the keyword OPT the files will be trans-
lated by full conversion. This means both conversion of char-
acters and CR's will be translated in CRLF's. This is the way
the new programs AREAD and AWRITE work. These files are
distributed by Commodore with the XT/AT Board. If you use the
program ATCopy from the workbench you can't ( at this
time ? ) use the keywords TO and OPT. The program uses the
standards ( current directory and full conversion ).
INSTALLATION
On the disk you will find a subdirectory called PC. This
directory contains three programs AT.EXE, XT.EXE and
PCCOPY.EXE. At least two of these programs you must copy by
AREAD DF0:ATCopy/PC/name.EXE A:name.EXE /B
to the XT/AT. In each case you will need the program
PCCOPY.EXE and it depends on your board the file XT.EXE or
AT.EXE ( who had thought this ? ). The program PCCOPY.EXE is
memoryresident and need start only once, for example in the
AUTOEXEC.BAT ( this is the Startup-Sequence of the XT/AT ).
The programs XT.EXE and AT.EXE are called by the Amiga
program ATCopy. Therefore it is necessary that at this time
no program is running. You are in the CLI of the XT/AT and
you are able to start a new program.
The usage from the Amiga is already descripted above and so
it's not necessary to repeat it again.
NOTE: The program needs the ARP.library ( at least
version 39. ).
Please notice that on an XT/AT you can't use all the
characters in filenames that are available for the Amiga. In
fact the space, nationalcharacters or the sqare braces are
not supported. Please notice that also there are strict
limitations in the lenght of the filename and the extension.
Only one extension with 3 characters and 8 characters before
the dot "." are allowed. You can't use filenames starting
with a dot. so ".info" is no legal filename and the two names
"DemoDatei.info" and "DEMODATE.INF" specify the same file on
an XT/AT !
Everyone who has paid the SHAREWARE will get updates as quick
as possible and even can get the soure if he/she wants it.
Please give me a short description of your environment.I need
this because if the program wont work in a special enviroment
it is easyer for me to send the new version first to these
people who have this special environment.
Bugreports or improvements are welcome.
I hope that the translation from the Amiga to the XT/AT is
easyer using this program.
My program uses parts of the ARP.library ( especialy the
GADS routine ). Without this help it had been ( nearly )
impossible to write the program. I'm sorry, but the
informations on the Janus.library are very rare. Therefore it
can be that the program ATCopy doesn't work in all parts on
all configurations. ( I have tested it on my own Amiga 2000
with AT Board and on an Amiga 1000 with SideCar. I don't have
access to an XT Board. )
P.S. There is one more limitation by starting the program
from the workbench. You can't specify more than one TOOL
by "SHIFT Left Mouse". The first TOOL will work with all
the PROJECTS you have specified and the reminder TOOLS
will be skiped.
Solution: Don't specify any files by "SHIFT Left Mouse".
The program will ask you for each file by the
Filerequester.
